Ben Rosebrock is a college administrator/educator by day and lead chocolatier by night. He has lived in Lenawee county for 19 years, is an Adrian College alumnus and currently employed as the Director of TRIO Student Support Services at Siena Heights University. Since high school, Ben has dreamed of owning his own chocolate shop to make old-fashioned fudge, caramel corn, and confections on marble slabs. He was trained as a chocolatier when working at a summer job and fell in love with the art of making fudge. In July 2016, in addition to their full-time jobs, Ben and, his wife, Deveny co-established Treat Handcrafted Confections, LLC. Products were created from their own kitchen and covered under the Michigan Cottage Food Law. Ben’s signature soft, buttery caramel recipe became a local favorite and people flocked to find the “chocolate people” at local fairs and festivals. The Buzz Cafe and Marketplace brings Ben’s dream to a reality, moving from cottage food into brick-and-mortar while joining the revitalization effort in Downtown Adrian and expanding product offerings to include old-fashioned fudge, caramel corn, and other specialty treats.
